I read an article months ago about Bible studying and color coding. It made sense to me, so I thought I'd try it. I have to say, it has helped me immensely. I made a list of all of the topics I wanted to focus on, then I assigned them each a color. Colored pencils work best, as markers and highlighter soak through the pages. As I read through the scripture, color coding really helps me think about what I just read as I have to decide what category it fits under.
When I need to find a verse on my role as a mother, woman or wife, they are easy to find because they are underlined in pink. And when I want to find scriptures about how to live as a Christian, I can concentrate on the verses underlined in teal. I love his method of getting to know and LOVE my bible. Plus, it's really pretty and fun to do!
My note card key I keep in my Bible
I bought my new Bible about six months ago. I LOVE it. It is a woman's study Bible, so it has a lot of commentary from woman authors. They are able to put scriptures into a context that you can apply to daily life. You can get one HERE.
You may also want to invest in an electric pencil sharpener as you will need to sharpen often.
